First season under new artistic director takes shape – advance ticket sales begin on 3 July

With the publication of the autumn programme and the start of advance ticket sales on 3 July 2026, the first season under the future artistic director Bernadette Sonnenbichler will become a tangible reality for audiences for the first time. Whilst the first tickets are going on sale, the new season has long since begun behind the scenes. Rehearsals for four opening productions are already underway. In the rehearsal rooms, ensemble members, Heidelberg residents and artists – some of whom are working together at Theater & Orchester Heidelberg for the first time – are coming together.
2026/27 Season

Bernadette Sonnenbichler will take over as Artistic Director of the Heidelberg Theatre & Orchestra from the 2026/27 season. She succeeds Holger Schultze, who has successfully shaped the theatre over the past 15 years. Together with the new artistic management team, she presented the programme for the coming season at a press conference on Thursday 21 May.
