Theatre bus

The Theatre Bus takes you from the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region to selected performances from our programme, as well as to the festivals Winter in Schwetzingen and Heidelberger Schlossfestspiele.

Enjoy the journey in the company of other theatre-goers – without having to hunt for a parking space and arriving directly at Universitätsplatz (for the Schlossfestspiele, to and from Heidelberg Castle; for Winter in Schwetzingen, to and from Schwetzingen Castle).

How it works

  • You can book bus journeys individually or as a pack of six with a discount of around 20 per cent, together with your theatre ticket, by email or over the phone.
  • The bus operates on eight routes with numerous stops throughout the region.
  • Each route runs seven times per season. The exact dates and the start of advance ticket sales for the seventh (special) journey to the Castle Festival will be announced in January 2027.
  • Routes 1, 3 and 7 usually run on Thursdays (performance at 7.30 pm), whilst routes 2, 4, 5 and 6 run on Sundays (performance at 3.00 pm). Route A runs on Thursdays or Sundays, depending on the date.
  • Visitors with severe disabilities (GdB 50 or above) pay a reduced price for the theatre ticket and a small surcharge for the bus journey. Companions receive a free theatre ticket and pay only a flat rate for the bus journey.

You’ll enjoy the following benefits

  • no need to search for a parking space
  • a stress-free journey to and from the venue
  • tickets and your invoice conveniently sent to your home by post (for a €3 postage charge) or as Print@Home tickets for you to print yourself
  • wheelchairs and walking frames can be brought along, subject to prior registration
  • a shared theatre experience

All registered individuals will be informed by post or email.
