Stefan Rieckhoff

The stage and costume designer Stefan Rieckhoff comes from Oldenburg and completed his studies at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Professor Karl Kneidl. His collaboration with Wilfried Minks and Wolfgang Gussmann took him to Berlin, Stuttgart, Vienna, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Venice, among other places. He has worked as a stage and costume designer at theatres in Bern, Linz, Heidelberg, Krefeld, Freiburg, Münster, Lübeck, Halle, Saarbrücken and Luxembourg as well as at the Berliner Ensemble, the National Theatre Prague, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Bonn Opera, the Volksoper Vienna, the Graz Opera, the Basel Theatre, the Bregenz Festival and the Wexford Festival Opera. His most recent work has taken him to the Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck.
At the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, he was responsible for the sets for »Coro fantastico« and »The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat«.
In 2004 and 2008 he was nominated stage designer of the year by the magazines »Opernwelt« and »Die Deutsche Bühne«. In 2006 he received the theatre prize of the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung. DVD recordings of the operas »Tristan und Isolde« and »Hänsel und Gretel«, which he designed, were released by Arthaus Musik.
In autumn 2022, Stefan Rieckhoff presented his first own directorial work with »Il Trovatore« at Theater Lüneburg.
