Christian Weißenberger

Christian Weißenberger graduated with distinction in 2005 from the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where he studied stage design under Bernhard Kleber. Since then, he has worked as a freelance artist in the fields of set design, video and experimental music. His work has taken him to venues including the Landestheater Linz, Zurich Opera House, Volkstheater Wien, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Wuppertaler Bühnen, Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen, Landestheater Niederösterreich and the independent theatre scene in Vienna. Since 2016, he has been closely associated with the Graz Opera.
Among other things, he has created video designs for »Cavalleria Rusticana / Pagliacci« (Mascagni / Leoncavallo) and »Oberon« (by Weber), »Die Passagierin« by Weinberg (directed by Nadja Loschky), »Venus in Seide« (directed by Dirk Schmeding), for Britten’s »War Requiem« (directed by Lorenzo Fioroni) and Massenet’s »Herodiade« at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf/Duisburg, as well as Schoenberg’s »Moses und Aron« at the Bonn Opera.
At the Heidelberg Theatre, his video works were featured in the productions of »Singin’ in the Rain« (directed by Andrea Schwalbach) and »Così fan tutte« (directed by Magdalena Fuchsberger).
