Paul Pötsch

Paul Pötsch, born in 1988 in Lauchhammer/Brandenburg, is a freelance musician and lives in Hamburg. He received his musical training from Laurenz Wannenmacher (piano) and Eckhard Lipske (acoustic and electric guitar). He is a founding member of the bands Trümmer, Hotel Rimini and Ilgen-Nur. For his band projects he received the Deutsche Schallplattenkritik award, was nominated for the Kritiker-ECHO and was awarded the Hamburg music prize HANS as young talent of the year. He continuously releases recordings and regularly tours nationally and internationally, also on behalf of the Goethe Institute.

As a theater musician, musical director, sound designer, composer and songwriter, he has worked, among others for Stefan Pucher at the Thalia Theater Hamburg (»Charles Manson - Summer of Hate«), Claudia Bauer (»Meister und Margarita«) at Schauspiel Leipzig, Friederike Schubert (»Grundgesetz - In Concert«) at the Staatstheater Hannover, for Karin Henkel at the Salzburg Festival and at the Münchner Kammerspiele (»Liebe« after Michael Haneke) and for Christiane Rösinger at Hebbel am Ufer Berlin (»Die große Klassenrevue«, shortlisted for Theatertreffen 2024).

He has realized his own musical theater performances at the HKW Berlin (rock opera »Vincent«) and at Kampnagel in Hamburg and the Festspielhaus Hellerau in Dresden (»Wir treiben die Liebe auf die Weide«). In the 2024/25 season, he is responsible for the musical direction of »The Caucasian Chalk Circle« at the Heidelberg Theater, directed by Holger Schultze.
