Jan Preißler

Jan Preißler, born in Berlin in 1991, works primarily as a musician, composer, author and performer in the fields of theater, dance, performance and video at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Volkstheater Wien, Schauspielhaus Graz, Künstler:innenhaus Mousonturm and Kampnagel Hamburg, among others. In 2022, Jan Preißler received a teaching position at the Faculty of Drama at the Universität der Künste Berlin. As a musician, he has worked with Massive Attack, Beatsteaks, Sarah Connor, Käptn Peng & die Tentakel von Delphi, Die höchste Eisenbahn, Arms and Sleepers and Graveworm, among others. Jan Preißler playfully attempts to tear down genre boundaries, expectations and viewing and listening habits in his own works and reassemble them with relish. These influences range from classical and abstract compositions, pop and musicals to black metal and noise. The examination and reflection of intersectional, power-critical and queer-feminist positions always play a central role.
