Marilena Kalaitzantonaki is a set and costume designer as well as a fine artist, based in Athens. She graduated from the Imperial Academy of Arts (Repin) in Saint Petersburg, where she completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies in painting, theatre stage management, and costume design. Her work spans theatre, film, and advertising, exploring the transformation of space and materiality in those different contexts. She has collaborated with various artists and institutions, including Onassis Stegi, the National Theatre of Greece, and the Mariinsky Theatre, contributing as a set and costume designer to numerous theatre and dance productions. Marilena Kalaitzantonaki was art director of the award-winning film »ANIMAL« (2023), which received the Best Film Award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival. Her recent projects include »Unseen Horses« (2025) by Ioanna Paraskevopoulou with Dance Theatre Heidelberg, and »Antigone« (2024) with En Dynamei Ensemble. She has designed for productions such as »Nekyia« (Onassis Stegi), »The Cherry Orchard« (Theseum Theatre), and »If I Die, She Said« (Greek National Opera). Her background in fine arts is reflected in her solo and group exhibitions, with her paintings featured in permanent collections in Greece, Russia, and the USA.
