Adrien La Marca

Adrien La Marca has been praised by the Financial Times as a »truly pure talent« and Le Monde describes him as a »new viola hero«. His playing is characterised by depth of expression, technical mastery and a sound with a rich and deep quality. Adrien La Marca has a charismatic stage presence and the ability to establish an immediate emotional connection with his audience. He is recognised as one of the most compelling musicians of his generation. La Marca has performed as a soloist with numerous renowned orchestras. La Marca was named »New Soloist of the Year 2014« by the French Victoires de la Musique and has since performed in venues such as the Paris Philharmonie, London's Barbican Centre and Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Berliner Konzerthaus, Wiener Musikverein and the Auditorium du Louvre. His first album »English Delight«, which was released in 2016, was highly praised and honoured by the press. His second recording »HEROES« includes William Walton's viola concerto with the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège. His latest recording is entitled »Chanson Bohème«. Adrien La Marca was born in Aix-en-Provence in 1989 and began playing the piano and viola at the age of four. He entered the Paris Conservatoire at the age of 16 and studied with Jean Sulem. He completed his studies in Leipzig with Tatjana Masurenko and then in Berlin with Tabea Zimmermann. In 2016, he was the first classical musician to receive the prestigious scholarship from the Fondation Lagardère. Adrien La Marca is a laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire and is supported by L'Or du Rhin and the Safran Foundation.
