Signe Heiberg was born in Copenhagen and has been singing since childhood. She has already impressed in opera productions in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
Her repertoire includes roles such as Desdemona in »Otello«, Countess Almaviva in »Le nozze di Figaro«, Agathe in »Der Freischütz«, Giulietta in »Hoffmanns Erzählungen«, Hanna Glawari in »Die lustige Witwe« and the Marschallin in »Der Rosenkavalier«.
Since the beginning of the 2024/25 season, Signe Heiberg has been a member of the ensemble at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, where she sings roles such as Lady Macbeth and Jenufa. She also received considerable attention for her debut as Leonore in Beethoven’s »Fidelio« during a guest performance by Theater und Orchester Heidelberg in Winterthur, as well as for stepping in at Oper Frankfurt for the premiere of Verdi’s »Macbeth«, where she again appeared as Lady. This led to an invitation to return for the revival of »Macbeth« in Frankfurt in the 2025/26 season.
From 2021/22 to 2023/24, she was a member of the ensemble at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven, where she made her debut as Lady Macbeth in Philipp Westerbarkei's production of Verdi's »Macbeth«, which was nominated for the German Theatre Prize Der Faust in 2023. She celebrated further successes in the title role of »Oceane« by Detlef Glanert and as Floria Tosca in Angela Denoke's production. In December 2023, she made her debut as Rusalka in a production directed by Johannes Pölzgutter.
Heiberg won 2nd prize and the audience prize at the Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition 2024.
Guest engagements have taken her to Theater Regensburg, the Swiss Schlossoper Haldenstein Festival, the Eutin Festival in 2019 – where she made her debut as Amelia in Verdi’s »Un Ballo in Maschera« – and to Austria, where she appeared as Rosalinde in »Die Fledermaus« at the 30th anniversary of the Herbsttage Blindenmarkt.
Heiberg began her training early and was mentored by Prof. Helene Gjerris from the age of 16. She studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and later in Hamburg with Prof. Carolyn Grace James.
