Nicole Eckenigk grew up in Magdeburg in a theater family. At the age of seven, she received her first tap dance lessons and spent years competing in international tap dance championships, where she was awarded, among other distinctions, a German championship title as well as a bronze medal at the world championships. After completing her training as a professional stage performer at the Stage School Hamburg, she could be seen in productions such as »My Fair Lady«, »Cabaret«, »La Cage aux Folles«, »Roxy und ihr Wunderteam«, »The Addams Family«, »Memphis«, »Saturday Night Fever«, »Footloose«, and »Jekyll & Hyde« on major stages across Germany.
As an associate choreographer, Nicole adapted Otto Pichler’s choreography for »La Traviata« (Staatstheater Darmstadt) as well as Simon Eichenberger’s choreography for »Jekyll & Hyde« (Staatstheater Darmstadt). Furthermore, Nicole served as an associate for the tap choreography of the German-language premiere of »Das SpongeBob Musical« (Showslot).
Since 2019, Nicole has also been successfully working as a choreographer. At the Mittelsächsisches Theater, she choreographed »Die Csárdásfürstin«, »Der Bettelstudent«, »Im weißen Rössl«, and »Charley« (German premiere). Additionally, she was responsible for the choreography of »Sugar – Some Like It Hot« at the Scherenburgfestspiele Gemünden and, together with Timo Radünz, choreographed the touring production of »Footloose« 2025 for Showslot.
