Monika-Margret Steger

Monika-Margret Steger is an actress who plays, writes, directs, sings and makes music. She lives in Mannheim and originally comes from the Bavarian Forest. After studying German philology, philosophy and ethnology in Marburg an der Lahn, she trained as an actress at the Mozarteum Salzburg.

From 1996 to 2000 she was an actress in the ensemble of Nationaltheater Mannheim and worked with Barbara Frey, Johann Kresnik, Marlon Metzen, Stephanie Kunz and Manfred Weiß. Since 2001 she has worked as a freelance actress and director in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (e.g. at the Schauspielhaus Wien, Festival des politischen Theaters Hamburg, Theater gruppe80 Wien, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Circularte Basel, Zimmertheater Speyer and many more). As part of Kultur-Rhein-Neckar e.V., she has performed in numerous cultural programmes in the region and has been involved in the German-Russian exchange programme QUATTROLOGE for over 25 years (1997/2016 /2018 guest performances in Sochi and Moscow with various own productions).

From 2004 to 2010, she co-designed the programme of Kunstladen e. V. Neckarstadt-West and was coordinator and contributor to interdisciplinary exhibitions and performances. Since 2005, she has also worked as a theatre workshop leader at Junges Nationaltheater, Englisches Institut Heidelberg, universities and other public educational institutions.

In the season 2024/25, she will be seen as Meister Hora in »Momo«, among other roles.
