Tobias Vethake was born in Gütersloh in 1975. He studied at the Musikhochschule Hannover and has worked at Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Volkstheater Wien, Kampnagel in Hamburg, Theater Münster, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Theater Bremen, Schauspiel Frankfurt and Teatrul National Sibiu. He has also worked for film, television, museums and radio. He is also a sought-after studio musician and producer and collaborates with international artists of various styles, such as the American hip-hop artist Serengeti and the French-Australian post-rock band Machine est mon Coeur. He releases various projects of his own on his own label blankrecords and also offers young, non-established musicians a platform. In addition to the electronic jazz duo Mini Pops Junior, his solo project Sicker Man is at the centre of his musical work. Here he realises his musical visions and combines classical songwriting with experimental soundscapes. His main instrument is the electric cello. Since 2020, he has been developing various concepts that deal with live streaming of music and concerts in unusual places, including »Fragments of Futures Past« (2020) and »Fleeting Places« (2022). At Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, Tobias Vethake is composing the music for the world premiere of »Unter euch« by Thomas Depryck.
