Florian Daniel

Florian Daniel is the Chorus Director at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg since April 2025. Prior to this, from September 2021 to the end of the 2022/23 season, he worked as a répétiteur and assistant to the chorus director at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, where he also was responsible for the musical direction of the children's chorus for Humperdinck’s »Hänsel und Gretel« and Puccini’s »La Bohème«. In the 2022/23 academic year, he was appointed répétiteur and coach at the August Everding Academy in Munich, followed by a five-month engagement under GMD Stefan Klingele at Theater Bremen as guest répétiteur and coach for German repertoire. From 2024 until March 2025, he held the position of chorus director and assistant to GMD Basil Coleman at the Landestheater Niederbayern. As a soloist, Florian Daniel performs with a variety of ensembles and has also participated in world premieres for Bayerischer Rundfunk. Together with Franziska Ball, he regularly performs as a cabaret duo; in May 2023, they won second place at the Hallertauer Kleinkunstfestival.

A native of Ingolstadt, he began a preparatory course in church music and composition while still at school. In Munich, he studied school music and voice as well as piano with a focus on contemporary new music with Prof. Markus Bellheim, conducting, and composition with Prof. Jan Müller-Wieland. Masterclasses, including with Amit Dolberg, Johannes Marian, and Christian Jost, took him to Italy, Poland, and the USA. For his outstanding academic achievements—including composition, rehearsal, and performance of his own chamber opera—he was awarded a Deutschlandstipendium (German public-private scholarship); in 2022, he was a scholarship holder of the Wagner Foundation and musical assistant in Bayreuth. In Poland, he regularly appears as a conductor and coach for open-air festivals and local music theater.
