Paul Breyer

The conductor and pianist Paul Breyer has been a répétiteur with conducting duties at the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg since January 2025. He began his musical training on the piano and violin at the age of 5. After studying piano (Florian Glemser/Jürgen Kruse) and conducting (Uwe Münch) at the Berufsfachschule für Musik Mittelfranken, he went on to study for a bachelor's degree, working in parallel with orchestras such as the Hofer Symphoniker the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Kecskémet Symphony Orchestra (Hungary), the Nürnberger Symphoniker, the Philharmonisches Orchester Würzburg, the Joensunn Kaupunginorkesteri and the Jyväskylä Sinfonia (both Finland).

He is currently completing his bachelor's degree in orchestral conducting with Prof. Ari Rasilainen and GMD Prof. Andreas Hotz at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg. He has conducted numerous opera productions at the opera school there, including Cimarosa's »Il matrimonio segreto«, Telemann's »Orpheus«, Britten's »Rape of Lucretia«, Mozart's »Le nozze di Figaro«, Ullmann's »Kaiser von Atlantis« and Strauss' »Die Fledermaus«. In 2022/23, Paul Breyer worked as a répétiteur at the Mainfrankentheater Würzburg and appeared with his first own projects. Paul Breyer's interests include alternative concert formats and the performance of contemporary music. He also devotes himself intensively to song accompaniment, in which he is taught by Prof. Gerold Huber and, together with his song partner, won 2nd prize at the international Robert Schumann Competition and 1st prize at the Serafin Competition. In 2023, Paul Breyer was awarded the Richard Wagner Scholarship of the Richard Wagner Association Würzburg. Masterclasses with Jorma Panula, Nicolas Pasquet and Anthony Spiri (harpsichord) complete his training.
