Katharina Weissenborn studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. She produced independent animated films and commissioned works for ZDF, where she was responsible for the script, direction and image animation. This was followed by work as a co-director and costume designer for a music film production by Swiss television DRS. Her film work has been invited to the following festivals: Stuttgart International Animation Film Festival, Mannheim International Film Festival, Kiev Film Festival. As a costume designer, she works for opera and theatre, including at the Zurich Opera House, Helsinki National Opera, Thalia Theatre in Hamburg, Stuttgart State Opera, Schauspielhaus Bochum, Theatre Basel, Theatre Oberhausen, Theatre Osnabrück, Theatre Augsburg, Theatre Lübeck, State Theatre Hanover, Schauspiel Bonn, National Theatre Mannheim, Theatre Bremen, Opera Halle, Schauspiel Cologne, Schauspiel Stuttgart, Schauspielhaus Zurich, schauspielfrankfurt, Handel Festival Halle, Semperoper Dresden, and Opera Frankfurt. Her theatre work has earned her invitations to the following festivals: Theatertreffen Berlin, Theatertreffen NRW; Norddeutsches Theatertreffen, Internationale Schillertage Mannheim, International Art Festival Beijing, U.T.E., Festival Turin.
