Tom Ryser

Born in Basel, he is a trained actor and has been working as a freelance director, actor and choreographer throughout Europe since 1996.
He stages cross-genre dance, theatre, circus and opera with a few or several hundred performers. For Expo02, he created a ballet with construction machinery, for the re-opening of the Royal Festival Hall in London he made the Thames between Tower Bridge and Waterloo Bridge resound with 500 singers on ships and balconies and for the opening of the Capital of Culture Linz 2009 he created the »Raketensymphonie«, a piece for 16 soloists, fireworks and a choir.
He has staged »Hair«, »My Fair Lady«, »Masterclass«, »Fame« and »Jesus Christ Superstar« for Theater Basel, »Rinaldo« and »Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny« at Theater Freiburg, the musical »Evita« at Staatstheater Kassel, »Die Entführung aus dem Serail« at Opéra de Toulon, »Mass« by Leonard Bernstein at Theater Lübeck and the choral revue »Coro fantastico« at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg.
His first work at the Bremen Theatre was the David Bowie musical »Lazarus«, followed by »Das Horoskop des Königs - L'Étoile« and the John Lennon song recital »Imagine«.
He has worked closely with the Münster Theatre, where he has regularly appeared as a production dramaturge for dance as well as a director since 22/23. He has directed productions of »Madrigals of War and Love« by Claudio Monteverdi and »Mass« by Leonard Bernstein.
