Maria Walter
Maria Walter, a graduate in architecture of Hochschule München and TU Wien, began her artistic career in architecture offices in Austria and Switzerland, as well as working as a set design assistant at the Staatstheater Kassel, before devoting herself to stage and costume design.
Since 2020, she has created her own works at the Staatstheater Kassel for drama, musical theatre and dance, including »Patient Zero 1« / UA (Sarah Kohm) - »Singletreff« / UA (Lars-Ole Walburg) - »Emil und die Detektive« (Marlene Pawlak) - »19762 - solos y conectados« / UA (Candela Capitán). In 2022, she worked as an artistic collaborator on »ZEIT-FUGEN/inbetweens #3: Kassel/ STAATSTHEATER« (Wolf Gutjahr), and in 2024, the two continued their collaboration with »ZEIT-FUGEN/ inbetweens #4: Darmstadt / Neues Palais« at Staatstheater Darmstadt.
She was also part of the creative team for the opening event of Kulturhauptstadt Chemnitz 2025 together with Lars-Ole Walburg and Robert Schweer. From October 2025, she will present her first work at the Theater Heidelberg with »Propaganda«, an international co-production with the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Centre in Santiago de Chile, for which she is designing the stage and costumes. With experience from various countries, such as Mexico and Italy, and a broad spectrum of creative approaches, she works between scenographic spontaneity and architectural discipline.
