Franziska Junge, born in Gera in 1982, studied at Burg Giebichenstein Halle and the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. Since then, she has been interested in the possibilities of drawing in space, time and dimension, and uses these playfully in various media, from paper to film to virtual reality, in a wide variety of contexts. Her work has been featured in exhibitions and magazines, at film festivals and on theatre stages, including at Schauspiel Leipzig, Theater Freiburg, Staatstheater Braunschweig and Saarländisches Staatstheater. Franziska Junge expands existing creative spaces with her video works – since 2020 also in collaboration with director Katharina Schmidt. Franziska Junge is developing the video for »Der zerbrochne Krug« at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg for 2025/26. After living in Cairo and London, she now lives with her family in Leipzig. In addition to her artistic work, Franziska Junge is a psychologist, is involved in student support as a liaison lecturer and has been teaching illustration at the HAWK – Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften und Kunst since 2024.
