Irina Battaglia grew up in Rapperswil, Switzerland. After graduating from high school, she completed a two-year basic training course in theatre pedagogy (BuT) at the Theater Tempus fugit in Lörrach. During this time, she mainly ran children's and youth clubs and gained her first experience as an assistant director, in production management and as a member of artistic collectives.
She then studied theatre pedagogy at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2025. At the same time, she was involved in numerous theatre education projects with children and young people and worked as a performer and assistant director in independent productions, including in Berlin, Zurich and Erlangen.
She is particularly interested in creating theatrical spaces for exchange and performative interplay between text and movement.
From the 2025/26 season, Irina Battaglia will be working as a theatre educator at the Junges Theater Heidelberg.
