The American pianist Claire Huangci inspires with »radiant virtuosity, artistic sensitivity, a keen interactive sense and subtle aural dramaturgy« (Salzburger Nachrichten). With irrepressible curiosity and a penchant for unusual repertoire, she demonstrates her versatility with a broad repertoire ranging from Bach and Scarlatti to German and Russian Romanticism, Leonard Bernstein, Amy Beach and Samuel Barber. She will be working with Alpha Classics in the 2024/25 season. Following a highly acclaimed Mozart concerto album with the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, she is releasing an American solo album entitled »Made in USA«. To kick off a series of international orchestral engagements, Claire Huangci will return to the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester, Porto, Iceland, Vorarlberg, the Nordwestdeutschen and the Pazifischen Symphoniker and make her debut with the symphony orchestras of Basel, Hanover, Bremen, Bochum and Milwaukee. In recent years, she has been a fixture on the concert platform, presenting an unusually broad repertoire and conducting various piano concertos. Born in Rochester, New York, Claire Huangci showed an early preference for the piano and was invited to the White House in 1999. She studied with Gary Graffman and Eleanor Sokoloff at the Curtis Institute of Music before moving to Hanover for further studies with Arie Vardi. She gained international recognition by winning top prizes at several major competitions, including the European and US Chopin Competitions, the ARD Music Competition, the Geza Anda Competition and the Grand Prix of the Paris Play Direct Academy. Since then, she has conducted a number of orchestras in various concert repertoires.
