Thomas Gropper

Thomas Gropper studied opera and concert singing as well as vocal pedagogy in Munich with Markus Goritzki and in Berlin with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, graduating from the der Münchner Musikhochschule. Since then, his extensive solo career has taken him to concert halls throughout Germany and neighboring countries, primarily with oratorios by Schütz and Bach to Orff and Britten, including many CD and radio productions. In 2001, Thomas Gropper was appointed professor of singing, speech training, and vocal pedagogy at the Musikhochschule München. In addition, he intensified his work as a choral voice coach, choir director, and conductor. Since 2005, he has been directing the Arcis Vocalists München, which he founded himself, with whom he performs the great works of oratorio literature, undertakes many guest performances and concert tours, and also produces radio productions for Bayrischer Rundfunk. Since 2014, Thomas Gropper has also directed the Birnauer Kantorei and organized the series »Geistliche Musik in der Birnau« in the beautiful basilica on Lake Constance. In 2016, the Kammerchor Chur in Graubünden was added for smaller works and a cappella literature. Since June 2025, Thomas Gropper has been director of the traditional Bachchor Heidelberg.
