Alexander Sinan Binder studied orchestral conducting in Düsseldorf and Zurich. He received long-term support as a scholarship holder of the ‘Forum Dirigieren’ of the German Music Council and through the ‘Akademie Musiktheater heute’ of the Deutsche Bank Foundation. In addition, masterclasses with David Zinman, Bernard Haitink, John Carewe, Peter Eötvös and Stefan Asbury at the Tanglewood Music Festival rounded off his training. His profile as a conductor encompasses symphonic, opera and contemporary music in equal measure. He has conducted internationally renowned orchestras such as the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Modern, WDR Funkhausorchester Köln, Lucerne Festival Strings and others. Most recently, he attracted attention with his top ranking at the Kódaly Conducting Competition 2023 and his quarter-final participation in the prestigious Malko Competition 2024. In recent years, Alexander Sinan Binder has been invited to perform at various venues and festivals in Germany and abroad, including the Komische Oper Berlin, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, the Staatsoper Hannover, the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, the Ensemble Proton Bern, the Gaudeamus Muziekweek Utrecht and the ManiFeste Paris. Following his position as 1st Kapellmeister of the Lucerne Theatre, he was chief conductor of the Abaco Orchestra Munich and was conductor of the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt am Main in 2021-22. Alexander Sinan Binder has been 1st Kapellmeister of the Staatstheater Braunschweig since the 2024/25 season.
