Lukas Umlauft was born in Chemnitz in 1987. He gained his first stage experience in productions such as »Holier Ground« (directed by Johanna Walchuk) at the Strawberry One-Act Festival in New York City. While studying acting at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre, he performed at the Volkstheater Rostock and appeared at the Stadttheater Konstanz and the OutNow Festival in Bremen. This was followed by permanent engagements at the Stadttheater Ingolstadt and the LTT Tübingen. In 2016/17, he joined the Staatstheater Kassel for five years. His most important work there included productions by Johanna Wehner, Marco Štorman, Laura Linnenbaum, Anna Bergmann, Schirin Khodadadian, Donald Berkenhoff, Christoph Roos, Dominik Günther, Gernot Grünewald and Markus Dietz, among others. Lukas Umlauft was then a permanent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Meiningen from 2021/22 to 2023/24. Since the 2024/25 season, Lukas Umlauft has been working as a freelance actor, but has remained associated with the Staatstheater Meiningen as a guest. In addition to musical projects, he most recently appeared in the feature film production »Nukki« (director: Leonardo Cariglino) and in the title role in »Faust Eins« (director: Lydia Bunk) at the Landestheater Eisenach. Lukas Umlauft is making guest appearances at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg in 2025/26 in the revue »Völlig losgelöst« and in »Cyrano« at the Heidelberger Schlossfestspiele.
