Daniela Löffner was born in Freiburg in 1980. She began her theatre career as an assistant director at the Freiburg Theater. In the same capacity, she went to Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus in 2006 and assisted Jürgen Gosch and Volker Lösch, among others. Here she created her first own productions such as »The Wild Duck« and »Demian«, which was nominated for the DER FAUST theatre prize in 2011. Further work took her to Residenztheater München and Schauspielhaus Zürich, among others. There, for example, she directed the world premiere of Anne Nather's play » You Don't Date in the Forest« and was invited to Autorentheatertagen Berlin 2010 with it. Her production of »Children of the Sun« at Schauspielhaus Zürich was invited to Festival radikal jung. From 2010 to 2014 she was in-house director at Staatstheater Braunschweig. She was awarded the Kurt Hübner Directing Prize in 2014 for »Children of the Sun« and »The Tempest« at Staatstheater Braunschweig. At Deutsches Theater Berlin she directed Rebekka Kricheldorf's »Alltag & Ekstase«, Philipp Löhle's »The Thing«, »The Ridiculous Darkness« by Wolfram Lotz, »Fathers and Sons« by Brian Friel based on the novel by Ivan Turgenev, which was invited to the Theatertreffen 2016, and »Franziska Linkerhand« based on the novel by Brigitte Reimann. Daniela Löffner is directing the world premiere of »The Light of the World« by Raphaela Bardutzky at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg in 2022.
