Santiago Bürgi

The Argentine tenor Santiago Bürgi has been a member of the ensemble of Theater Pforzheim since the 2021/22 season. There he has appeared in roles such as Fenton (»Falstaff«), Don Ottavio (»Don Giovanni«), Camille de Rosillon (»Die lustige Witwe«), Ché (»Evita«), as well as in the title roles of »Idomeneo« and »Jesus Christ Superstar«.
In the 2025/26 season he makes his debut at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège as Nippers in Benoît Mernier’s opera »Bartleby«, at the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg as Valzacchi (»Der Rosenkavalier«), and at the Opernfestspielen Heidenheim as Malcolm (»Macbeth«). He will also appear at Theater Erfurt in Astor Piazzolla’s »María de Buenos Aires«.
In the Netherlands he has performed in more than twenty cities in a production by Opera2day featuring Philip Glass’ »The Fall of the House of Usher« as part of the project »Opera Melancholica«. At Festival Classique he also appeared as Orphée in Gluck’s »Orphée et Eurydice«.
At the Schönbrunner Musiktheater in Vienna he has guested in »Die Fledermaus«, »Der Vogelhändler« and »Der Obersteiger«. A recording of the latter production was released on CD by the label CPO.
Before moving to Europe, Santiago Bürgi was a frequent guest at major opera houses and festivals throughout Latin America, including Teatro Colón, Teatro Argentino de La Plata, Teatro Avenida and Teatro San Martín in Buenos Aires, Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile, Auditorio Nacional del Sodre in Montevideo, Festival Cervantino and Teatro Juárez in Guanajuato, Conjunto de Artes Escénicas in Guadalajara, Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo and Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán in Bogotá, Gran Teatro Nacional in Lima, and the Festival Internacional de Teatro Hispano in Miami.
In addition to opera, Santiago Bürgi is also a sought-after interpreter of art songs, oratorios and popular recital programmes. With his former progressive rock band »Fughu« he released three albums. His first solo album with the project »Santiago Bürgi – Trampolín a la Nada« was released recently.
