Paul-Jakob Dinkelacker

Paul-Jakob Dinkelacker learnt the French horn and percussion, and taught himself the piano; he studied at the HfMdK Mannheim and has worked as a musician, composer, sound designer and actor in well over 30 productions at theatres across the German-speaking world, often as a member of the Causa Rynkowski collective. Outside the theatre, he has played with Fabian Simon, Trümmer, Bayuk, Tristan Brusch and the Berlin Resident Music Collective. He is a founding member of the band Hotel Rimini, for whom he writes regularly and in which his versatility comes into its own.
Dinkelacker builds, modifies and hybridises instruments, which he likes to complement in his performances with whimsical, multidimensional collages. He is interested in sounds that are different, yet can blend into existing aesthetic structures when required. He presented his concept in 2023 as a guest lecturer at the Bauhaus-Universität in Weimar.
