Justine Loddenkemper

Justine Loddenkemper studied design with a focus on fashion. After her thesis—which won three awards as the best work by an emerging artist—she began collaborating with the AlarmTheater, which specifically supports projects involving unaccompanied refugees. Among other projects, she designed the costumes for »Human Echoes«, a co-production with the theater company Cia. Arthur-Arnaldo in São Paulo, as well as for the international theater project »Shared Stories« by the Mashirika Performing Arts Company and the Sarajevo War Theatre in Kigali (Rwanda). At the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Justine Loddenkemper has already created various costume designs, such as for the world premiere of Sebastian »El Hotzo« Hotz’s debut novel »Mindset« (directed by Robert Zeigermann), as well as costumes and set design for various productions such as »Schiller’s Ballads Live« and »The Artificial Silk Girl« under the artistic direction of Andreas Kriegenburg and Wolfgang Michalek. After designing the costumes for »The Oresteia. After the War«, directed by Stas Zhyrkov, she designed the costumes for the D’haus Open Air production of »A Midsummer Night’s Dream« under his direction. At Deutsches Theater Göttingen, Justine Loddenkemper designed the set and costumes for the German premiere of »Iowa« (directed by Sarah Maroulis). She has maintained an ongoing collaboration with director Bassam Ghazi, with whom she worked in Düsseldorf on the Stadt:Kollektiv productions »Working Class«, »Dschinns«, »Solingen 1993« (awarded the DER FAUST theater prize), and »Vatermal« at the Schauspiel Köln. In addition to her theater work, Justine Loddenkemper works as a stylist and set designer for editorials, advertising, and short films, and heads the Costume Design Working Group of the Szenografie-Bund. »Romeo and Juliet«, directed by Bernadette Sonnenbichler, marks her debut at Theater & Orchester Heidelberg.
