Bahar Gökten

Bahar Gökten is a versatile dance artist. Her process-oriented work is shaped by the movement principles and cultural practices of inner-city dance cultures such as hip hop and breaking. This gives rise to works that focus above all on the power of improvisation. Bahar was a scholarship holder of Sprungbrett <> Tanzrecherche NRW and the Beat Riders New York. Her choreographies and interdisciplinary dance formats have been performed at the Ballett am Rhein, the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, the MAKK and the Staatstheater Stuttgart. She has been an artist-in-residence at the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum, the Stadt:Kollektiv at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, and the Cité internationale des Arts in Paris, as well as a Factory Artist at tanzhaus nrw with her collective nutrospektif.
