Öğünç Kardelen

Öğünç Kardelen, born in İzmir in 1978, moved to Cologne in 2002, where he studied classical singing at the Musikhochschule Köln. After initially working as a singer and musical composer for the youth project Planet Kultur e.V. in collaboration with the Schauspiel Köln, he has been working since 2016 as a composer, stage musician and performer at theatres throughout Germany. He is the singer and guitarist in the band Ahtapot, whose music is inspired by psychedelic Turkish rock of the 1970s. He also produces experimental music under the name ønsh. He has been living in Mainz since 2019. At Theater & Orchester Heidelberg, he will be involved in the 2026/27 season as a composer and live musician in the world premiere of »Babel«, a musical tale of linguistic confusion with texts by Ivana Sokola, directed by Jana Vetten.
