Ins Meyer

Ins Meyer (they/he), born in 1995 in Bremen, works as a set and costume designer and as a visual artist in the fields of theatre, film, exhibitions, installations and performance. Ins studied object and spatial design at Fachhochschule Dortmund and was part of Janina Audick’s set design class at Universität der Künste Berlin until 2024. In their artistic practice, Ins explores queer culture, gender politics and queer-feminist perspectives. Their work combines influences from pop culture and body horror and questions societal power structures. In 2021, Ins was awarded the ADC Talent Award and won jury prizes at the Spotlight Festival, Forecast Festival and FiSH Festival for the video spot »Just in case«. In the same year, they won the open call for scenography at the Emerging Artists Dortmund festival. Ins’s installations and stage designs have been exhibited at venues including the Haus der Statistik in Berlin, the Prachtsaal Berlin, the U.NIT Theatre, the BAT Theater, Ballhaus Ost, the Schaubude Berlin and the Theater Regensburg. In 2024, they were awarded the Elsa Neumann Scholarship for an artistic research project on the theme of gender hacking as a radical biopolitical act. Ins lives and works in Berlin. At Theater & Orchester Heidelberg, Ins Meyer will design the set for »Over the Rainbow« in the 2026/27 season, a musical evening about the life of Judy Garland.
