Gesa Schermuly

Gesa Schermuly, born in Gelnhausen, will be joining the Theater & Orchester Heidelberg from the 26/27 season. From 2014 to 2018, she studied theatre and media studies as well as sociology at FAU Nuremberg. In 2018, she began her acting studies at the ZHdK in Zurich and transferred to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater »Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy« in Leipzig in the same year. In 2020/21, she received the Deutschlandstipendium.

From 2021 to 2023, she was part of the Düsseldorf Studio at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. There, she worked with directors such as Felix Krakau, Wolfgang Michalek, Robert Gerloff, André Kaczmarczyk, Mina Salehpour and Andreas Kriegenburg.

In the 2023/24 season, she took up her first permanent role at the Stadtheater Bielefeld, where she worked with Alice Buddeberg, Jette Büshel and Nick Westbrock, amongst others. In 2024, she was invited to the Heidelberger Stückemarkt with the production »else(someone)«, directed by Nadja Loschky. During her engagement in Bielefeld, she was awarded the Theatertaler by the Theater- und Konzertfreunde.
Since 2023, she has also appeared on screen in film and television, including as Grete Bloch in Agnieszka Holland’s film »Franz K.«.

Her collaboration with Ronja Oehler has resulted in various original productions at the Bielefeld Theatre, most recently the production »STREUNERN« in cooperation with the FZZ Baumheide. The staged reading of »Guten Morgen, du Schöne« was invited to the Begehungen Festival in Chemnitz in 2024. Together with Ronja Oehler, Gesa Schermuly organises support gigs for various bands under the name »Megamild«.
