Ludmila Komkova

Ludmila Komkova is a dancer with Tanz Heidelberg. She was born in Minsk, Belarus, and began her training at the Belarusian State Choreographic College, continuing it at the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart.
Following an initial engagement in Chemnitz, she joined the Thoss Tanz Kompanie in Wiesbaden in 2008 under the direction of Stephan Thoss, and from the founding of the Hessisches Staatsballett in the 2014/15 season, she danced under ballet directors Tim Plegge and Bruno Heynderickx. During this time, she danced solo roles by internationally renowned choreographers, including Hans van Manen, Jiří Kylián, Ohad Naharin, Alexander Ekman, Johan Inger, Medhi Walerski, Edward Clug, Richard Siegal, Bryan Arias, Jeroen Verbruggen, Stephan Thoss, Hideo Fukagawa and Tim Plegge, who created roles for her including Titania in his ballet »A Midsummer Night’s Dream«, Klärchen in »Memento« and the Girl in »A Winter’s Journey«.
For her portrayal of Juliet in Stephan Thoss’s »Romeo and Juliet«, she was nominated as »Dancer of the Year« by Tanz magazine in 2012. Alongside her career as a dancer, Ludmila has also been developing her own works since 2013. In 2019, she won first place at the Concours de Jeunes Chorégraphes in Bordeaux with her choreography »No One« for the Hessian State Ballet. Since then, she has been choreographing for the ballet company of the Opéra National de Bordeaux, the Compagnie Illicite Bayonne, and the Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka as well as solo roles in competitions such as the Youth Grand Prix Japan. During the 2025/26 season, Ludmila Komkova worked – and will continue to work – as an assistant to the ballet masters and as a member of the dance outreach team at Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden.
