Raphael Gehrmann

Raphael Gehrmann will be a permanent member of the ensemble at Theater & Orchester Heidelberg from the 2026/27 season onwards.

He was born in Munich in 1990. From 2007 to 2010, he was a junior student of singing at the Richard-Strauß-Konservatorium and, in 2005, won the national Jugend musiziert competition in the solo singing category. He studied acting between 2010 and 2014 at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. Whilst still a student, he appeared at the Thalia Theater on Gaußstraße and at the Altonaer Theater.

His first permanent engagement took him to Theater Magdeburg in 2014, where he worked with directors including Susanne Lietzow and Marie Bues.
In 2016 until 2022, Gehrmann joined Theater und Orchester Heidelberg as a permanent ensemble member, where he took on the title roles in Kleist’s »Michael Kohlhaas«, Schiller’s »Don Karlos« and Bram Stoker’s »Dracula«, amongst others. He has worked with directors such as Philipp Preuss, Luise Voigt, Christian Brey, Nick Hartnagel, Bernadette Sonnenbichler and Brit Bartkowiak. The production »Beben« by Maria Milisavljevic (directed by Erich Sidler) was invited to the Mülheimer Theatertage in 2018 and took Raphael Gehrmann on tour to Mexico and Cuba.
From 2022 to 2026, he was a member of the ensemble at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, appearing on stage in productions including »Cabaret«, »Die fünf Leben der Irmgard Keun« by Lutz Hübner and Sarah Nemitz, »The Visit« and »Peer Gynt«, as well as »Kafkas Traum«.
During this time, he worked with directors including André Kaczmarczyk, Mina Salehpour, Laura Linnenbaum and Andreas Kriegenburg. In 2025, he played the lead role of Beckmann in »Draußen vor der Tür« (directed by Adrian Figueroa) at the Radikal Jung Festival and was awarded the Düsseldorfer Theaterpreis. He also continues to appear as Ismael in Robert Wilson’s »Moby Dick«, with guest performances at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York and in Shanghai for the opening of the new opera house.
