Raphael Rubino

Raphael Rubino has previously appeared at the Theater & Orchester Heidelberg as Teddi in Kurt Schwitters’ »Der Zusammenstoß« and as Faust in Martin G. Berger’s musical theatre production »Faust (Margarete)«. From the 2026/27 season onwards, he will be a permanent actor at the Theater & Orchester Heidelberg.

Raphael Rubino, born in 1971, initially studied art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and subsequently drama at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz. His engagements have taken him to venues including the Burgtheater, the Theater Oberhausen, the Theater Bonn, the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam, the Staatstheater Nürnberg and, since 2024, the Theater Münster.

His more recent work at the Theater Münster includes Wilke Weermann’s production of Kleist’s »Der zerbrochne Krug«, in which he plays the village judge Adam, Arthur Miller’s »Tod eines Handlungsreisenden«, directed by Jakob Weiss with Raphael Rubino as Willy Loman, and »Liebes Arschloch«, based on Virginie Despentes and directed by Ran Chai Bar-zvi.

Since 2023, he has also been appearing as a guest performer at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus in »Schuld und Sühne – allerdings mit anderen Texten und anderer Melodie« by Barbara Bürk and Clemens Sienknecht.

He has a long-standing collaboration with the Vorarlberger Landestheater in Bregenz, where he has appeared, amongst other roles, in Johannes Lepper’s productions of »Die Vögel« and »Das Fest des Lamms«. In 2025 and 2026, he appeared there as Macbeth in Lepper’s production of Shakespeare’s tragedy.

Among the defining roles of his time at the Staatstheater Nürnberg are Dr Dorn in Chekhov’s »Die Möwe«, directed by Anne Lenk; Antonio in Shakespeare’s »Was ihr wollt«, directed by Rafael Sanchez; King Gunther in Armin Petras’ »Die Nibelungen«, Dr Rank in Ibsen’s »Nora«, directed by Andreas Kriegenburg, and the title role in Philipp Preuss’s production of »Macbeth«.
