Mareike Schneider

Mareike Schneider studied German language and literature and arts-media-cultural education at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main from 2011 to 2015, focusing on children's and young people's literature and new media. After her studies, she interned at the Staatstheater Mainz in productions by Anne Bader, Ekat Cordes, Jan-Christoph Gockel and Sara Ostertag. At the youth club tanzsturm, Mareike Schneider completed a production assistantship under the direction of Felix Berner, and assistant directorships took her to the Junges Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Theater Baden-Baden. In 2016, she began training as a theater pedagogue BuT® at the Theaterwerkstatt Heidelberg. As part of her training, she realized a theater project for male prison inmates at the Bruchsal correctional facility. As an independent theater pedagogue, Mareike Schneider focused her work on theater in the correctional system. From 2017 to 2020, she created performative play developments every year. Her goal was to aesthetically and theatrically shape prison, a place far removed from art, together with the inmates. Furthermore, Mareike Schneider directed intercultural theater projects, worked for the Junges Nationaltheater Mannheim in the context of various mediation formats, and worked as a theatre educator at the Kinder- und Jugendtheater Speyer from 2020 to 2022.

Since the 2022/23 season, Mareike Schneider has been a theatre educator at the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg.
