The young German tenor Jakob Kleinschrot received his first musical training with the cathedral choir boys in his home town of Würzburg. He graduated from the University of Music there in 2020 with a degree in school music, specialising in piano, singing and ensemble work. At the same time, he has been studying singing with Martin Hummel since 2018 and gained stage experience at the opera school. Jakob Kleinschrot is a scholarship holder of the Deutschlandstipendium 2020 and 2021 and received a Bayreuth scholarship from the Düsseldorf Richard Wagner Society in 2022.
Since autumn 2020, Jakob Kleinschrot has been deepening his vocal studies with Konrad Jarnot at the Robert Schumann Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf, where he made his debut in spring 2022 as Rodolfo in »La Bohème«. In August 2022, he appeared for the first time as Nemorino in »L'elisir d'amore« with the opera ensemble Music-to-go.
At the beginning of the 22|23 season, the young tenor was a member of the Opernstudios Niederrhein at Theater Krefeld/Mönchengladbach, where he appeared in numerous roles such as Goro in »Madama Butterfly«. At the Wernigeroder Festival in summer 2023, he appeared on stage as Rinuccio in »Gianni Schicchi«. At the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, he made a guest appearance as Johnny in Lucia Ronchetti's opera »The Flying Classroom«. From December 2023 to summer 2024, he was a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein's International Opera Studio ensemble.
24/25 the young singer appeared as Erich in »Comedian Harmonists« at the Saarländisches Staatstheater, as Alfredo in »La Traviata« at the Lüneburg Theatre and as Adam in »Der Vogelhändler« at the Volkstheater Rostock with the revival 25/26.
A busy concert schedule with solo roles in Bach's Passions, Mozart's Requiem and Schumann's »Faust Scenes« round off the young tenor's profile. An important part of his work is with his vocal ensemble »buffoni«, for which he is active as a singer, composer and arranger.
