Lothar Kittstein, born in Trier in 1970, studied German language and literature, history and philosophy. After completing his doctorate in modern history at the University of Bonn, he worked for several years as a personnel consultant in a small management consultancy. From 2005 to 2007, Kittstein worked as a dramaturge at Schauspiel Köln. He has worked as a freelance author since 2005. He has written texts for theatres and independent theatre groups throughout the German-speaking world. Among others, Kittstein has written for Schauspiel Köln, Theater Bonn, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Residenztheater München, Kammerspiele München, Staatsschauspiel Dresden and Schauspielhaus Zürich. He has also written radio plays for Deutschlandfunk and WDR. He has a long-standing collaboration with the Bonn fringe ensemble. In 2009, Kittstein founded the collective RAUM+ZEIT with Bernhard Mikeska and Alexandra Althoff, for whose immersive theatre projects numerous texts have been created since then. As part of the RAUM+ZEIT collective, Lothar Kittstein wrote the texts for »In deinem Pelz«, »Der Sechste Kontinent« and »Freud träumt :: Anna O.« for Theater und Orchester Heidelberg.
