Yura Yang

Yura Yang has been working at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe since the 2020/21 season and has been First Coordinated Kapellmeister and Assistant to the General Music Director there since December 2022. In the 2022/23 season she will conduct the new production of »Carmen« as well as the revivals of »Salome«, »La finta Giardiniera« and »Per aspera ad Astra«. Yura Yang completed her conducting studies from 2009 to 2013, initially at the Detmold University of Music, and from 2018 to 2021 at the Munich University of Music and Theatre. From the 2012/13 to 2017/18 season, she was engaged as a solo répétiteur with conducting duties at the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen. There she conducted several children's concerts and took over the musical direction of Zad Moultaka's children's opera »King Hamed and Princess Sherifa«, Jerry Bock's »Anatevka«, »The Magic Flute«, »Don Giovanni«, the ballet »Romeo and Juliet«, »L'elisir d'amore« as well as Harold Arlen's and Yip Harburg's »The Wizard of Oz«. In 2016 Yura Yang was included in the Conductors' Forum of the German Music Council and in 2019 in the artist list »Maestros of Tomorrow«. In the 2018/19 season she worked at the Kiel Theatre as Kapellmeister and musical assistant to the General Music Director. This was followed in 2019/20 by an engagement as First Kapellmeister and Deputy General Music Director at Theater Aachen. In addition to her work at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Yura Yang will give guest performances in the 2022/23 season at the Semperoper Dresden, the Brucknerhaus Linz, the Aalto-Theater Essen and as conductor of symphony concerts at the theatres in Erfurt and Gießen.
