Simone Osborne

Canadian soprano Simone Osborne made her successful European debut in the 2019/20 season as Vreli in »Romeo and Juliet in the Village« by Frederick Delius at Oper Frankfurt. In 2020/21, she returned to Frankfurt to sing Serpina in »La serva padrona«, Norina in »Don Pasquale«, and an evening of duets with Gordon Bintner. Simone Osborne was one of the youngest winners of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and began her career as a Young Artist in the Ensemble Studio of the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, where she has since sung more than a dozen roles, including Pamina, Gilda, Musetta, Lauretta, Ilia, Oscar, Nanetta, Micaëla, Adina and most recently Gretel in Humperdink's »Hansel and Gretel«. On the concert stage, Simone Osborne made her debut as Marguerite in Honegger's »Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher« at the Saito Kinen Festival under Seiji Ozawa. Most recently, Simone Osborne sang numerous concerts in the United States as part of the Metropolitan Opera Rising Stars series, debuting with Utah Symphony in Mozart's »Exsultate Jubilate« and Barber's »Knoxville: Summer of 1915«. She also has a busy association with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, most recently in Mahler's Fourth Symphony, Villa-Lobos' »Bachianas Brasilieras No. 5« and Mozart's Requiem. In addition to the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (2008), Simone Osborne has won prizes in numerous other competitions, including most recently the Sullivan Foundation Award (2016), the Sylva Gelber Foundation Award (2009), the Marilyn Horne Foundation First Prize at the Music Academy of the West (2008), the Encouragement Award at the George London Foundation Competition (2008), First Prize at the International Czech and Slovak Opera Competition (2007), a Jaqueline Desmarais Foundation Scholarship (2007), and Second Prize at the Palm Beach Opera Competition (2007).
