Polina Solotowizki was born in Moscow in 1993 and spent her childhood in Heidelberg. She grew up surrounded by German, Russian and Jewish cultures. After completing her directing studies at the Russischen Institut für Theaterkunst in 2018, she worked as a freelance director at repertory theatres in Russian-speaking countries. In 2020/21, she moved back to Heidelberg with her family and began her Master's degree in Expanded Theatre at Hochschule der Künste Bern. Her master's project »Frontstage« - a documentary play about masculinity between play and war, featuring a Ukrainian and a Russian actor - was invited to the Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2024. In the same year, Polina was selected for the International Forum of the Theatertreffen.
Artistically, Polina Solotowizki is interested in the interface between the identity of the performers, their roles and the feeling of presence through performative means. In her work, she deals with social and political issues from personal perspectives and attempts to build cultural bridges.
