The tenor Gergely Németi, of Hungarian origin, was born in Romania and completed his vocal studies at the Faculty of Music in Oradea. He took part in numerous masterclasses and was a scholarship holder of CEE Musiktheater Wien and the Cardiff International Academy of Voice. In 2008 he made his debut at the Wiener Staatsoper as the Messenger (»Aida«) and subsequently sang there Beppo (»I Pagliacci«), Steuermann (»Der fliegende Holländer«), Tybalt (»Roméo et Juliette«), Cassio (»Otello«), Fenton (»Falstaff«), Froh (»Das Rheingold«), Nemorino (»L’elisir d’amore«), Basilio (»Le nozze di Figaro«), the Sailor’s Voice (»Tristan und Isolde«), Alfred (»Die Fledermaus«), the Singer (»Der Rosenkavalier«) and Tamino (»Die Zauberflöte«). He was also the premiere cast for Malcolm (»Macbeth«) and Walther von der Vogelweide (»Tannhäuser«). In the 2010/11 season he appeared at the Opernhaus Zürich as Percy in the revival of »Anna Bolena« and sang Tamino at the Wiener Volksoper as well as again at the Wiener Staatsoper. In the 2015/16 season Németi guested in the title role of »Idomeneo« at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and as Alfred (»Die Fledermaus«) in Kassel. From the 2012/13 to the 2016/17 season, he was a member of the ensemble of the Oper Stuttgart, where he appeared, among other roles, as Ismaele (»Nabucco«), Narraboth (»Salome«), Don Ottavio (»Don Giovanni«), Fenton (»Falstaff«), Elvino (»La Sonnambula«) and Lenski (»Eugen Onegin«).
Since the 2023/24 season, Gergely Németi has been a member of the opera chorus at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, where he continues to appear regularly as a soloist.
