zwinger x EYPA & Friends
Concert by the German-Syrian duo from Mannheim with after-show party
Zwinger 1
The musicians in the center, surrounded by the audience: for the first time in their band's history, EYPA is recording a live album with a large ensemble, and we get to be there live at the Zwinger!
EYPA concerts are more than just music: the feeling of togetherness, of being part of a community, is symbolised by the Arabic word كن (»Kun«), which is featured in EYPA’s name. كن means »to be« and symbolises what the Arab-German duo wants to achieve with its music: to be completely in the here and now.
In their music, Eyad Ghannam (e-oud—an Arabic short-necked lute) and Paul-Aaron Wolf (drums, synthesizer) combine different cultural and musical influences to create their own indie electronica sound. As a transcultural project, EYPA breaks down the categorical separation between two cultures: Arabic maqams, synth lines, and driving drums combine to create the self-invented music genre »Arab Krautrock«!
The concert will be followed by an after-show party!
