King Lear – His Last Walk
by Pavlo Arie / based on an idea by William Shakespeare / translated from Ukrainian by Sebastian Anton
Marguerre-Saal
[recommended for ages 16 and up]
King Lear has divided his kingdom and wants to bequeath it to his three daughters. When it seems that Cordelia, the youngest, does not show him enough love, he disowns her. Power is now divided between Goneril and Regan who soon consider their father to be nothing but an annoying burden. And King Lear can’t let go. He still thinks himself in office and in power. Even though the memory of it slowly fades away. An end game.
Ukrainian theatre makers Stas Zhyrkov and Pavlo Arie had a guest performance at Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2017. They are now working on a modern version of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy.
The production of the decorative parts is carried out in the workshops of the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg.
