Encantado
by Lia Rodrigues
Marguerre-Saal
[recommended for ages 14 and up]
Colourful and cheerful, that’s »Encantado« by Brazilian choreographer Lia Rodrigues. The piece has been traveling and enchanting half the world since its premiere in Paris in 2021 and is now coming to Heidelberg. Lia Rodrigues, who founded her Companhia de Danças in 1990 in Rio de Janeiro, found inspiration in the country’s indigenous cultures. The Marguerre-Saal becomes the mythical world of the Encantados, beings located somewhere between heaven and earth. The dancers use all kinds of textiles from Brazilian markets to create stories and creatures, transforming the stage into an almost sacred place and presenting an unforgettable dance ritual.
