NORMA

Alter Saal
[recommended for ages 16 and up]
What would it look like if five dancers moved freely on stage? Spanish choreographer Antonio Ruz explores this concept in his dance piece »NORMA«. The Latin word norma originally referred to a measuring tool, but it later evolved to signify rules, regulations, norms, and behavioral guidelines. In »NORMA«, the dancers challenge and celebrate this notion of normality, embracing the bizarre and the odd. Their movements raise questions about how we perceive ourselves and others, making us realize that, without exception, we are all unique and remarkable beings.

*The dancers and staff of DTH are eager to engage in conversations about dance, which is why we are offering a special dialogue opportunity: the Tanzbiennale Transfer. Between performances in the Alter Saal and the Hebel-Halle, we will walk together along Heidelberg’s main street to Bismarckplatz. This unique transfer can lead to discussions about dance and movement in general or the specific guest performances. Look for us under our bright pink Tanzbiennale umbrella!
