The Abduction of the Amygdala
by Anna Gschnitzer / Direction: Pina Bergemann and Babett Grube / Theaterhaus Jena
It all starts with a bang. A head bounces off a car’s bonnet and patriarchy escapes from the skull. Enter, amygdala: She forgets that she’s a mum, forgets her children, her husband, the mortgage, the glass ceiling she just can’t seem to break through after her parental leave, the cost of living that surpasses her income, her parents who need care, the struggle, all of a sudden she just leaves all that behind. Can you do that – really?
In »Die Entführung der Amygdala« a woman breaches a taboo: After her accident, she seems to suffer from amnesia and decides to take on a new identity. Leaving her role as mother and wife, she is searching for a new place. She embarks on a journey that might lead to another universe.
