Leaks. From Mölln to Hanau
by Nuran David Calis / Direction: Nuran David Calis / Schauspiel Frankfurt
From a fatal arson attack in Mölln in 1992 to the murders of Hanau in 2020, the racist terror acts in Germany reveal an unstable security system where not all citizens are protected equally. In a collage of interviews, witness reports, journalistic research and material of committees and court trials of racist crimes, Nuran David Calis shows the structural similarities of authority failures, their active cover-up and the collusion of Germany’s domestic secret service with the right-wing scene within the last 30 years. Another common factor connecting these racist crimes is that its victims are stigmatised by police and security authorities.
Dressed up as a colourful, satirical show, Calis exposes structures, perpetrators, accomplices and confidants with re-enactments, investigative attacks, alienation and a vicious humour: All in the service of solidary empowerment against right-wing extremism and the empowerment of marginalised voices.
