Propaganda
or: Are these really my thoughts that I’m thinking? / A Chilean-German theatre play by Juan Pablo Troncoso and Björn SC Deigner
Alter Saal
[recommended for ages 16 and up]
In this coproduction the team around director Ana Luz Ormazábal reflects on the concept of propaganda and analyses how right-wing indoctrination influences individuals and social groups today. The focus is on the targeted use of social media for propaganda purposes, reaching from the concealment of hate speech to the targeted promotion of polarisation, anger and fear online.
This performance reflects on how we can be more critical about (dis)information and combines historical conclusions with current debates: How do propaganda techniques shape our perceptions and power structures, and how are they maintained across cultures and historical periods?
