Dance x 2
Dance evening in two parts with choreographies by Astrid Boons and Panzetti / Ticconi
Zwinger 1
For »Dance × 2« Dance Theatre Heidelberg will be divided and is going to present two distinct choreographic voices. Belgian choreographer Astrid Boons will work with one half of the company on »Crash«, a piece she originally created in 2020 as part of the three-part evening Momentum in Heidelberg. The pandemic cut short its original run—making this second attempt more than overdue. Boons explores how the so-called evolved human moves and, above all, how it forms community. At the heart of this investigation lies the question of ritual: How do these beings connect with one another? Do they still reach out their hands? What ceremonies do they invent to stay connected?
The other half of the company collaborates with the Italian duo Panzetti / Ticconi on a completely new work. In »IT’S NIGHT AGAIN«, they dive deep into the realm of dreams, exploring the nocturnal as a topos of transformation, defined by the tense relation between the unsettling dimension of nightmares and the pacifying embrace of sleep. Drawing on surrealism and the unconscious, the piece unfolds a world where gestures–such as the act of throwing–unveil the unpredictable connections between fear and euphoria, danger and joy, forces that pulse within both the inner life of the individual and the shared experience of the collective.
