Troy! Stowaways in the Trojan Horse
by Henner Kallmeyer
Zwinger 3
The war for Troy rages for ten years. When the Greeks conquer the city, two children meet in the Trojan horse: Briseis, who has grown up among the Greek ships, and Spourgitis, a Trojan kitchen boy. Both grew up with the war and know the other side only from stories. This means: attack! After all, they’re enemies. Or are they not?
Instead of fighting, they start to talk: about the roots of the war, mutual prejudices and being a hero – quite to the displeasure of Hermes, herald of the gods. Impatiently waiting for the great finale of the meeting, he wants to get his job done and take the souls of the dead to the underworld. Is there any other possible outcome of this meeting than death?
Based on the text from antiquity, in his play, Henner Kallmeyer discusses war in a thoughtful, touching and sometimes surprisingly humoristic way.
